MAIN TITLE SEQUENCE

Role: Type Design & Type Animation

In late 2023, I had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with Alejandro Robledo Mejia (RMA), a renowned director and CG/VFX artist, on the FITC 2024 title sequence. FITC, which stands for 'Future. Innovation. Technology. Creativity.', produces design and technology-focused events worldwide that inspire, educate, and challenge attendees.

RMA entrusted me with designing and animating the typographical elements, focusing primarily on the speaker names. Our collaboration fused stunning 3D renderings and simulations with a graphic design-based typographical overlay. To streamline the process of managing upwards of 40 speakers, I utilised a number of scripts and expressions that allowed for quick changes or updates to a speaker's card simply by changing the name of the composition.

This project was a significant experience for me as I sought to expand my current skillset. While I specialise in animation, design has always been a considerable interest of mine, though I seldom offered it to clients. Alejandro's guidance and trust allowed me to explore and develop my design skills, transforming static elements into dynamic motion graphics. I am deeply grateful to Alejandro for bringing me into this project and for his support and mentorship throughout the process.

“The piece explores the complex relationship between time and creativity, using symbolism such as a white canvas, vibrant flowers, menacing snakes, and crystals. It delves into the artist's journey from potentiality to creation, encountering challenges and limitations along the way. Fear and time are depicted as omnipresent forces driving artistic growth, while introspection and reflection play crucial roles in the creative process. The artwork culminates in the imagery of a ticking clock fracturing to reveal a crystal, symbolizing the transformative power of overcoming constraints to achieve artistic expression and innovation.”
